Jon Merritt's visually rhythmic sculp-tures are both bright and playful, measured and poetic. As Jon explains, "A systematic approach to generating geometric abstractions allows me to select compositions from an immeasurably large set of possibilities. I refine assemblages of colors, shapes, and patterns into stationary whirlwinds that beckon the viewer into a kind of imaginative symbiosis."
Jon Merritt earned his MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI in 2015 and his BFA from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA in 2012. Merritt recently produced a video game project with the Virtual Dream Center artist group which is now available on Mac and PC. He has recently exhibited his artwork in New York, NY; Los Angeles, CA; and Chicago, IL.
