Made completely with fabric and other textile material this piece tells a family story. The figures, my brother and his wife, are rendered in a free-motion sewing technique on denim jeans once worn by my father. The red lace and curtain material belonged to my mother. Silver embroidery pieces are cut from a wedding gown. The black felt was chosen as a stark contrast to the silver embroidered shapes. Reused, resourced and recycled fabric helps to tell a story of family unity. This is a striking example of the kind of sewing projects I would like to produce in the future.
