Master Drawings New York 2020: Nancy Friese at The Pierre Hotel

The Pierre Hotel, January 25 - February 1, 2020

Cade Tompkins Projects is pleased to participate in Master Drawings New York (MDNY) 2020 at New York's legendary Pierre Hotel featuring selected works by en plein air artist Nancy Friese. Presented by twenty-five of the world's leading international art galleries, MDNY is an annual exhibition that will take place January 25-February 1, 2020, showcasing an outstanding array of drawings, paintings and sculptures from the 13th to the 21st centuries. Dealers from the United States and Europe will feature their most highly regarded drawings in galleries along Madison Avenue on Manhattan's exclusive Upper East Side.

Nancy Friese: Monumental En Plein Air Watercolors at The Pierre's Two E Lounge is presented in collaboration with Cade Tompkins Projects. Part of the hotel's rotating exhibition of contemporary local artists, the program highlights eight of Nancy Friese's vibrant paintings, creating a dynamic contrast to Two E's Neoclassical interior. Friese is a painter/printmaker working consistently as a plein air artist. She is renowned for majestic, expressive landscapes of important arboretums and land trust preserves from Planting Fields Arboretum to Giverny, where she has been invited to paint over the years.  Friese received her MFA from Yale University and her work is represented in many prestigious museum collections. The exhibit is open to participants in the Master Drawings events daily during the last week in January from 11 am - 6 pm and Sunday January 26 from 2 pm - 6 pm.  The works will remain on display in Two E through April, 2020.
